Community

Farber Hebrew Day School is more than a school, it is a community. For over 50 years, Farber Hebrew Day School-Yeshivat Akiva, has served as the community’s pinnacle of Torah study and central gathering place for learning programs, Davening opportunities, holiday celebrations and special events.  Some of our staple community programs include:

Thursday Night Mishmar Learning

An evening of multi-generational Torah study in the Farber Hebrew Day School Beit Midrash held on Thursday evenings. Current Farber students along with faculty, parents, grandparents, alumni and other community members gather to learn Chavruta-style and enjoy delicious Thursday night Cholent.

Davening & Donuts

Farber Hebrew Day School hosts Sunday Morning Shacharit services at 9:00 a.m. each week for all parents, students and community members, followed by an assortment of donuts for all participants.

Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration

Perhaps the most exciting community event at Farber Hebrew Day School is our annual Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration. Fulfilling our Core Value of Medinat Yisrael, Farber is the host for the primary celebration of Israel Independence Day for the Orthodox community in the Metro Detroit area. Students, parents, faculty, alumni and members from the entire community gather to enjoy a festive dinner, music, dancing, student presentations and our annual student flag dance (daglanut).
